Insert graphics (clipart or photo)
You can insert clip art or photos, or other graphic file, into a web page. The graphic file must be on your PC's hard drive before you start this process.
- View the page where you want to include the graphic file.
- At the top of the page, click the
tab to put the page in edit mode. - Go to the Body section of the edit page.
- Position the cursor where you want to insert the graphic file.
- In the Editor toolbar, click
Insert/Edit Image. - The Image Properties window will pop up.
- Click

- The Image/File Browser window will pop up.
- Use the navigation to go to the Directory where you want to save the file. (This directory is arbitrary and provided for your convenience in organizing files on the server. If you don't see the directory that you want or need a new directory created, please ask.)
- If you want to upload a new graphic file from your PC to the server, click
Upload, click
to find the graphic file on your PC, then click
- You will see Upload Successful with an image of the graphic file.
- Click the image of the graphic file.
- The Image/File Browser window will close and you will be back in the Image Properties window.
- At this point, you can resize the graphic, if needed, or use Align to position the graphic file relative to the text around it. You may want to use Left or Right to wrap text around the graphic file. Or, like the graphic files in this document, Text Top to align the graphic to the top of the text in the line where the graphic appears. Try out the different Align options, as they are easy to change as needed. You will get a sense of the option in the Preview window.
- For a photo or large graphic file, enter a description of the file in Alternative Text, which is displayed for sight impaired site visitors.
- Click
to save the graphic file at the cursor position.
If the wrapping or other formatting doesn't appear as you think it should, it may be due to the "Input Format" (Drupal 6) or "Text Format" (Drupal 7). This feature exists to keep users from adding unauthorized stuff (a technical term) to their posts, thus introducing viruses or phishing or other nasties. The default format, Filtered HTML, prevents these types of bad behavior. But if you really are a content editor, you should be authorized to use other formats. Try Full HTML to be sure that all formatting is used.
