Vista is good!

I have been using Vista for over a year now, and it has been a pleasant experience.  I saw an article in the newspaper (yes, I read a daily newspaper on real newsprint) that said that Vista was less stable than XP.  It is simply not true.  I was just reminded of this a few minutes ago.  I was trying to forward an email using Outlook.  There was a problem viewing the email, so I should have been suspicious of it.  When I tried to forward it, Outlook hung.  When I tried to close the forwarding window, I got a popup window that Outlook had stopped working and asking what I wanted to do.  I chose restart.  It did.  Try that with XP.  I would have had to reboot the OS to recover.

I have found that a good many programs will crash and will not take Vista with them.  I call that more stable, not less stable.

I wish Outlook were as stable as Vista.  It has been unstable since a recent update, I believe, although I didn't track exactly which one.  I will try the latest SP soon and see if that improves things, probably after I do an image backup of my disk, just in case.  (See my article on backups for more on that subject.)
