Users become contributors

Last night, I trained the core team on how they can directly contribute their content to our new web site. The training went well. Most questions were on the use of the editor, FCKEditor. It has all of the power that they wanted. There are many details that are needed to complete the site. The choice of calendar tools in Drupal is not what I would like. It seems that the future is toward Date rather than Event. I tried to get WebCalendar installed but there are unresolved issues that I can't take time to address right now, so I will go to Date. It has some issues as well and I plan to address them. The calendar view needs some improvement. There is no capability yet to have repeated dates, such as a meeting every Thursday. This exists for Event, and I will see if I can modify it to work. There is an active project to implement repeated dates but I have no idea when it will be available. This is the joy (lots of choice) and pain (if it is broke, you may have to fix it yourself). The announcement module developed as a demo by IBM also has some interest, so I will also pursue getting it updated to Drupal 5.1 - unless someone else beats me to it. Now where in the Drupal site did I see the discussion on this?
