Meshtastic and Bluetooth connection
I wanted to change one Meshtastic device to Medium_Fast modem preset as some people near me are talking about migrating to it from Long_Fast, which is the usual default. If I changed one node, I could see if there were traffic there. When I opened the Meshtastic app on my Android phone, I could see the device I wanted to change, but I could not get it to connect to the device. I rebooted and then restarted the device but this didn't fix the problem, so I restarted the app and then rebooted the phone. That worked. My lesson is that when BT devices won't connect, restart them and that should clear the difficulty.
Something I did not try but might work. On the phone, halt BT and restart it rather than rebooting the phone. I will try that next time.

Meshcom
I was reading Zero Retries 0235 (https://www.zeroretries.radio/zero-retries-0235/) and saw a mention of
MeshCom - a New "Meshxxx" Variant Specifically for Hams
"There's another LoRa mesh system that you might not be aware of another - MeshCom. Similar to Meshtastic, there is an Austrian development called MeshCom (separate from Meshcore) which started a few years ago and which has gained a lot of traction recently... So what's the difference? As I gather so far, Meshtastic is for anyone, Meshcore has its focus on off grid mesh (e.g. preppers) and is popular in the UK, but MeshCom is specifically for Hams: it combines LoRa on 433MHz, gateways which attach themselves to the MeshCom server via WiFi (thus enabling a dashboard, see https://meshcom.oevsv.at/ ) and feeding the APRS network."
This looks interesting to me and I will investigate. It is likely that there are no other nodes around me but it could be useful.
